A new vampire is in town, so Stefan and Damon struggle to determine the identity. Because of this, Stefan gives Elena’s family and friends jewelry stuffed with vervain to protect them. Matt’s hurting for money, so he takes a job at the Mystic Grill. Ben also works their, and he used to be a football star at their high school. Then he becomes a hero again when he notices that Bonnie needs help from Damon.
There is a school dance with a 1950s themed dance, so Stefan and Damon both accompany Elena – and Alaric introduces himself to Damon.
